MEET THE SKIPPERS
Fish Whisperer, a fishing company located on the West Coast of Mauritius, offers five types of Fishing and Dolphin Watching activities in the Black River region.
Fish Whisperer was incorporated and launched in February 2014 by two passionate and experienced Mauritian fishermen. The aim of Ian Koenig and Michael Forget is to offer a personalised service to every client that climbs aboard Extasea, whether it be for a full-day Fishing excursion or any other Sea Activity. Apart from Fishing and Dolphin Watching on the West Coast of Mauritius, they also offer unforgettable boat trips that are customisable.
IAN KOENIG
Born into a family of passionate fishermen; Ian has always been deeply connected to the sea. Since a very young age, being out on the water was heralding of a great day with friends and family, around a common passion, fishing! Over the years, he has learnt every single fishing technique that any respectable Mauritian fisherman should know.

Ian returned to Mauritius after completing his studies in South Africa. He started his working career as an accountant in one of the biggest 5 star resorts on the West Coast of Mauritius. It did not take him long to understand that his happiness would never reside between the walls of an office but out at sea. That’s where the adventure began! Ian is now one of Fish Whisperer’s captains!
MICHAEL FORGET
Michael was already a budding young fisherman at the age of 8, regularly going fishing outside the lagoon with his father and his brother-in-law. Michael learnt and developed a very unique and powerful aptitude for fishing during his younger years, as well as an in-depth knowledge of the sea.
After 5 years of studies in Europe, Michael returned with a Masters in Finance, and began working as a banker in the e-commerce department for one of the leading banks on the island.
After two years in the banking institution, Michael came to the realisation that sharing his passion for the ocean and for fishing was what he wanted to do, he quit his job and the rest is history! Mauritian waters hold no secrets for him. His experience, passion and knowledge is immediately noticeable and he makes you feel very safe and at ease to be on the water with him!
JEAN DOMINIQUE CHOYTA
Born the 8 June 1980, Dominique is since his very young age involve in Fishing. His Father and Grandfather are pure passionate Fishermen. He is thus living incredible experiences catching many different types and sizes of Fish.
After his matric, Dominique applied and of course fined a job in the Fishing Charter Industry very quick.
After 17 years spent as a professional skipper, today Dominique is a Fish Whisperer crew and is very motivated to bring all his knowledge on serving the tourists on board and mainly because his job is simply what he loves.

Our team makes sure that when they get back on land, the client is debriefed and has a perfect understanding of what happened during the fishing excursion.
We love to meet people from all around the world, to learn from their experiences, to share our passion, while enjoying a good fishing session and discovering the West Coast of our beautiful island!
Our team will do its utmost to always return to shore with at least one Fish! Fish Whisperer supports “Catch and Release” without added fees!
